The Fourth Week of Lent

With this week, we begin the second part of Lent.  We ask more and more deeply to be with and like Jesus.  We desire to celebrate the approaching mystery of our salvation with greater freedom and greater joy.

Each day's gospel will now be from the Gospel according to John.  We can't avoid the feeling of being in a court room for a grand trial.  There are "witnesses" and "testimony."  It is a battle between the forces of Darkness and the Light.  The opposition to Jesus mounts.  It is inevitable that he will be killed.  But, we know that the ultimate Judgment in the trial is against Sin and Death.  We grow in gratitude and grace as we experience more deeply that this is all "for me."

Community Building Weekend

Remember the weekend of October 17 & 18 last year, when Fr.Bowen spoke at all of our eight Masses here at St.Augustine’s? Recalling the important conversation his mom (and other moms) used to have over the back fence with each other about their families while hanging out laundry , our congregation was invited to begin a con-versation “over the pew” with one another about our parish, what they liked about it, what needs they saw in it, and to suggest how we could build a stronger community here at St.Augustine’s.

On that day, one member “interviewed” the other, and wrote down on a flyer the basics of the conversation, the concerns and comments of the other. The survey results are now available online and our Church Community Building continues with "House" meetings.   Visit our new Community Building Weekend page to view the responses and for more information.

Parish Dinner

St. Augustine Church offers value dinners one Friday a month in the church hall.  Please view  the weekly bulletin for more information. Click here to view pictures from the Spaghetti Dinner.  Visit often to see pictures from other events!

Pray For The Troops

Please remember in your prayers the brave men and women serving in our Armed Services. Pray for them and their families.

An After Mss Suggestion

"Group conversations" after Mass have again begun to get distracting to those who wish to remain in church to pray -- we have been told. The suggestion has been made to retreat to the vestibule or plaza area for these conversations or to visit with family and friends.

A Call From God?

We all have a "call" from God...but HE is not calling on a cell phone. A friendly reminder: as a courtesy to your fellow worshippers, please turn off (or set to "quiet") during Mass. We appreciate your cooperation.

Parking Reminders

NO parking is allowed along Augustine Avenue. Signs are posted along that road designating the "no parking" areas. For our scheduled weekend Masses, our parking lot (front and back) will usually accommodate all cars -- without anyone parking illegally -- on our lot or on the street.
