Welcome to St. Augustine Church!
Before Urban Sprawl; before the Information Super Highway (or
any kind of Super Highway for that matter); before the Space Race;
before the Cold War, World Wars or even the Civil War, a community
of Catholic Christians... a Church... St. Augustine Church... was
ministering to the people of Elkridge, Maryland, from high on a
hill on the Old Washington Road, the main pike between Baltimore
and our nation's Capitol.
Since 1844, many saints, and not a few sinners, have worshipped
Our Lord Jesus Christ in our Church. Most have toiled quietly to
do His Work here on Earth, never asking anything but to make their
community a little bit better for their having been a part of it. But one in particular, recognized by Holy Mother Church for
canonization in 1977, was the pastor here from 1849 to 1851:
Saint
John Neumann.
This web site is intended to inform, educate, and if we are
really good at web design, maybe even inspire our visitors.
St. Augustine Catholic Church website will keep the Parishioners up to date with parish events and
programs, as well as what is happening in the communities that St.
Augustine Church serves. Periodically, articles will be added that
will give useful information about the Sacraments, the Mass, the
Church, and our Traditions. And on occasion, a message from the
Pastor, an inspirational story, or a prayer or scripture will be
posted.
We have set some high standards for this site. We hope we can
meet them. Mostly though, we hope that you will find this site
useful and informative.
